Meet James Armstrong
Meet the Master Plumber Serving DFW: James Armstrong
James Armstrong has been a Mesquite-resident Master Plumber since 1995. What began as helping neighbors fix leaky faucets turned into a career — and eventually a family business, built on one simple rule: treat people right, do the job with integrity, and always stand behind your work. Today, James and his crew serve Mesquite, Rowlett, Sachse, Garland, and the broader east DFW metro, with most calls dispatched and on-site within 25 minutes of the Mesquite headquarters at 844 Dalworth Dr.
“In thirty years working Rowlett, Garland, and the Lake Ray Hubbard side of the metro, the drain calls almost always come down to two things: tree roots in the older Rowlett neighborhoods near the lake, and grease and hair buildup in the newer developments off Liberty Grove and Schrade Road. We camera-inspect first, then choose hydro-jetting or snaking based on what we actually see — not on what gets you to the highest invoice.”

Why Choose Us
Why Plano Homeowners Call Us Anyway
We just told you we are 25 miles away and not open at midnight. So here is the case for calling us.
Licensed & Certified Technicians
James Armstrong holds Texas Master Plumber License M-39428 with a gas endorsement. Emergency plumbing is where a real diagnosis matters most, because that is where the wrong call gets expensive. A hot spot on the floor is either a slab leak or a hot water line running under the slab exactly where it is supposed to. Knowing the difference is worth more than a fast truck.
Transparent, Upfront Pricing
Plano is a regular part of our service area, not our home turf. That honesty is the whole reason to trust the rest of what is on this page.
Fast & Friendly Service
We respect your time. Our technicians arrive promptly, work efficiently, and treat you and your home with courtesy and care.
The Armstrong Clean Promise
Floor protection, shoe covers, and a meticulous cleanup on every job. If your home isn’t cleaner than we found it, we pay for the cleaning.
5-Star Rated by Homeowners Like You
Local families choose us for reliable plumbing and friendly service. Your comfort, safety, and satisfaction are the reasons we do what we do.
Emergency Response Available
If it can wait, we say so. We would rather have you as a customer for twenty years than take $199 off you tonight for something a shutoff valve would have solved.
Emergency Calls Accepted After Hours & Weekends as well.

Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions? We’ve got answers. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Give us a call anytime.
No. We want to be straight with you about that. Our regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We do take emergency calls after hours and on weekends, with a flat $199 dispatch fee that we quote before we send anyone. If you need a true around-the-clock call center, we are not it, and we would rather tell you now than at 2 AM.
Yes. A flat $199 emergency dispatch fee. We tell you that number on the phone before we agree to come out, so you can decide. The repair itself is quoted separately, in writing, after we see the problem.
We are based in Mesquite, about 25 miles from Plano. Drive time depends on the hour and the traffic. During business hours, if you call before noon, we can usually get to you the same day. We are not going to promise you a number we cannot hold to. A Plano-based shop will be faster on arrival, and if arrival speed is the only thing that matters tonight, call one.
Shut the water off. Local valve behind the fixture if the leak is at a fixture, main shutoff at the meter or in the garage if it is a pipe. Turn clockwise. Then open the lowest faucet in the house to drain the pressure. If you smell gas, leave the building and call 911 and Atmos Energy at 866-322-8667 from outside.
Leave immediately. Do not flip any switch, do not unplug anything, do not use your phone inside. Get everybody out. From a safe distance, call 911 and Atmos Energy at 866-322-8667. Atmos will shut it off at no charge. Call us afterward for the repair, once the gas is secured.
A burst pipe, a water heater leaking at the tank, sewage backing up into the house, water coming through a ceiling, no water at all, a slab leak with a warm spot on the floor, or any gas odor. A running toilet, a dripping faucet, a single slow drain, or no hot water without a leak can wait until business hours. Calling us at 9 AM Monday instead of 11 PM Saturday saves you $199.
Shut the supply valve behind the toilet first. Turn it clockwise. That stops it in about ten seconds. Once the water is off, it is usually not an after-hours emergency. If more than one fixture is backing up, that is a main line problem and it is a different situation.
The dispatch fee is $199 flat, after hours. The repair depends on what broke. A single burst pipe section typically runs $300 to $800. A water heater replacement runs $1,200 to $3,500. A main line clearing runs $250 to $600. We quote both numbers before we do anything.
Yes. Restaurants, offices, retail, and multi-unit residential. Grease line backups, commercial water heaters, and flushometer failures are standard work for us. Call 214-918-6109 and tell us what the building has.
Usually yes, if it is contained and you can put a bucket under it. What cannot wait is water you cannot see. A warm spot on the floor, a spike in the water bill, or the sound of running water when everything is off means water is going somewhere it should not, and every day it runs into the slab or the framing costs you more than the repair does.
Comparison
Is This Actually an Emergency?
Not everything needs an after-hours call. Here is the honest triage. Real money is on the line, so we are going to be straight with you about which is which.
| Situation | Call now, after hours | Can wait until business hours |
|---|---|---|
| Gas odor | Call 911 and Atmos first. Then us. | No |
| Burst or actively spraying pipe | Yes | No |
| Water heater leaking at the tank body | Yes | No |
| Sewage backing up into tubs or floor drains | Yes | No |
| Water coming through a ceiling | Yes | No |
| No water at all in the house | Yes | No |
| Slab leak with a hot spot on the floor | Yes | No |
| Toilet overflowing and will not stop | Shut the valve behind it first. Then it can usually wait. | Yes, after shutoff |
| One clogged toilet, other fixtures fine | No | Yes |
| Running toilet | No | Yes |
| Dripping faucet | No | Yes |
| Slow drain | No | Yes |
| No hot water, but no leak | No | Yes |
| Low water pressure, no visible leak | No | Yes |
If your situation is in the right-hand column, call us during business hours and save yourself the $199. We will tell you that on the phone too.
What an Emergency Call Costs
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Diagnostic and evaluation (business hours) | $79 |
| After-hours or weekend emergency dispatch | $199 flat, quoted before we roll |
| Burst pipe repair (single section) | $300 to $800 |
| Water heater replacement (tank) | $1,200 to $3,500 |
| Sewer line camera inspection | $150 to $400 |
| Main line clearing (auger) | $250 to $600 |
| Hydro jetting | $400 to $900 |
| Slab leak locate and repair | $1,500 to $15,000+ depending on access and method |
| Shutoff valve replacement | $150 to $400 |
The $199 is a dispatch fee. It covers getting a licensed plumber out of bed and into a truck at 2 AM. It is quoted to you on the phone before we agree to come, and the repair is quoted separately after we can see the problem. No meter running, no surprises on the invoice.
