Meet James Armstrong

Meet the Master Plumber Serving DFW: James Armstrong

James Armstrong has been a Mesquite-resident Master Plumber since 1995. What began as helping neighbors fix leaky faucets turned into a career — and eventually a family business, built on one simple rule: treat people right, do the job with integrity, and always stand behind your work. Today, James and his crew serve Mesquite, Rowlett, Sachse, Garland, and the broader east DFW metro, with most calls dispatched and on-site within 25 minutes of the Mesquite headquarters at 844 Dalworth Dr.

“In thirty years working Rowlett, Garland, and the Lake Ray Hubbard side of the metro, the drain calls almost always come down to two things: tree roots in the older Rowlett neighborhoods near the lake, and grease and hair buildup in the newer developments off Liberty Grove and Schrade Road. We camera-inspect first, then choose hydro-jetting or snaking based on what we actually see — not on what gets you to the highest invoice.”

Our friendly team is available 24/7 to help you.

It is jammed. The motor is getting power but something is stopping the flywheel. Turn the switch off first, because running a stalled motor is what burns it out. Press the reset button on the bottom of the unit, then use the offset wrench that came with the disposal in the hex socket underneath to work the flywheel free. Never put your hand inside the unit. If it will not free up or jams again, call 214-918-6109.

Not necessarily. Silence means no power reaching the motor. Press the reset button on the bottom of the unit first, then check the breaker, since disposals are often on a shared kitchen circuit. If both are fine and it is still silent, the problem is the switch, the wiring, or the motor, and that needs a licensed professional to determine.

It depends where it leaks. Leaks at the sink flange, the dishwasher hose connection, or the discharge tube are all repairable. A leak coming from the bottom of the unit or its seam is the internal housing seal, and that cannot be repaired. That is why we ask where the water is coming from before quoting anything.

The disposal is probably not the problem. Slow drainage with a working disposal usually means grease buildup in the drain line past the unit. A disposal grinds solids but does nothing about grease. If both sides of a double sink are slow, or the sink backs up when the dishwasher runs, the issue is downstream and needs drain cleaning rather than disposal work.

Almost always the knockout plug. Every new disposal ships with a plug sealing the dishwasher inlet, and it has to be knocked out and the debris removed before the dishwasher drain hose is connected. It is the most common installation mistake we get called to correct. It is a quick fix once identified.
