What we get called for in Grand Prairie
Slab leaks
A hot spot on the floor, the sound of running water with everything off, or a water bill that jumped for no reason. Electronic leak detection runs 300 to 500 dollars and tells you exactly where the line failed before anyone opens concrete.
Sewer line failure
Multiple drains backing up at once means the problem is in the main line, not the fixture. A camera inspection runs 150 to 400 dollars and shows the actual condition of the pipe. In the older north Grand Prairie neighborhoods this is usually cast iron that has scaled or a line that has been pushed out of grade by soil movement.
Drain cleaning and hydro jetting
Cabling clears a clog. Hydro jetting scours the pipe wall back to full diameter, which matters on older cast iron where the blockage is buildup rather than a single obstruction.
Water heaters
Repair, replacement, and tankless installation. We install State water heaters. On a 2000s-built home the original unit is now well past its expected life, and a failure on a second floor or in a finished space does far more damage than the heater is worth.
Repiping
When galvanized supply lines have corroded far enough, repairs stop being economical and replacement is the honest recommendation.
Trenchless sewer repair and CIPP lining
Rehabilitating a failed sewer line without excavating the whole run. Worth asking about before anyone quotes you a full dig.
Grand Prairie plumbing runs on two different sets of problems
Grand Prairie is really two housing markets, and the plumbing calls split along the same line.
North of Interstate 30, around downtown and the Dalworth and Bear Creek areas, most homes went up between 1940 and 1969. The downtown core in 75050 is almost entirely that era.
Those houses are now 55 to 85 years old, which puts them past the service life of original cast iron drain lines and galvanized supply piping. Cast iron scales from the inside until the opening narrows to a fraction of its original diameter. Galvanized corrodes and drops water pressure long before it leaks.
South Grand Prairie is a different animal. Most of it was developed from the 1990s onward once Joe Pool Lake filled, and neighborhoods like Mira Lagos, Lakeridge, and Grand Peninsula are newer.
Citywide the median build year is 1992, and 22.5 percent of the housing stock went up between 2000 and 2009. Homes that age are hitting the window where builder-grade water heaters and fixtures reach end of life all at once.
What both halves share is the ground underneath. North Texas clay swells when it rains and shrinks when it does not, and it moves foundations with it. That movement is what cracks supply lines under a slab.
Where we work in Grand Prairie
We cover the full city, across all four ZIP codes: 75050, 75051, 75052, and 75054.
That includes the older north side around downtown, Dalworth, and Bear Creek, the central corridor near Traders Village and Asia Times Square, the Lone Star Park and Epic Waters area, and the newer south Grand Prairie neighborhoods including Mira Lagos, Lakeridge, Grand Peninsula, and the streets around Lynn Creek Park and Joe Pool Lake.
Grand Prairie spans Dallas, Tarrant, and Ellis counties. We work all of it.
Meet James Armstrong
Meet the Master Plumber Serving Grand Prairie: James Armstrong
James Armstrong has been a Mesquite-resident Master Plumber since 1995. What began as helping neighbors fix leaky faucets turned into a career — and eventually a family business, built on one simple rule: treat people right, do the job with integrity, and always stand behind your work. Today, James and his crew serve Grand Prairie, Sachse, Garland, and the broader DFW metro from the Mesquite headquarters at 844 Dalworth Dr.
“In thirty years of plumbing across the DFW metro, including Grand Prairie, the drain calls almost always come down to two things: tree roots in the older neighborhoods, and grease and hair buildup in the newer developments. We camera-inspect first, then choose hydro-jetting or snaking based on what we actually see — not on what gets you to the highest invoice.”

What Counts as an Emergency, and What Can Wait
We would rather tell you to go to bed than charge you an after-hours fee to look at something that will keep until morning. Here is our honest split.
| Situation | Our read |
|---|---|
| Burst or actively spraying pipe | Emergency. Shut the main and call |
| Water heater tank split, especially in an attic | Emergency. Shut the water and the power or gas |
| Sewage backing up into tubs, showers, or floor drains | Emergency. Stop using water in the house |
| No water at all in the house | Emergency, and often a main line issue |
| Slab leak you can hear running | Emergency. Shut the main |
| Gas smell | Not a plumbing call at all. Use the steps at the top of this page |
| One toilet clogged, another working | Usually waits. Shut its valve and stop using it |
| Water heater out, no leak | Usually waits. Cold showers beat an after-hours fee |
| Slow drain, dripping faucet, running toilet | Waits. Call during business hours |
| Water stain on a ceiling with nothing actively running | Usually waits, but same-day |
Call us either way. If it can wait, we will say so and book you for regular hours at regular rates.

We serve it. Grand Prairie is one of the cities we work in most often outside our home area, across all four ZIP codes and all three counties the city touches.
Around 40 minutes in normal conditions, longer during Interstate 30 rush hour. Call before noon on a weekday and same-day service is usually available.
If the home was built between 1940 and 1969, it very likely has original cast iron drain lines that are now past their service life. Slow drains across several fixtures, recurring backups, or gurgling are the early signs. A camera inspection at 150 to 400 dollars answers it definitively.
Electronic leak detection runs 300 to 500 dollars. A hydrostatic test, which pressure tests the drain system to confirm whether the leak is on the supply or drain side, runs the same range. Both locate the problem before any concrete is opened.
Yes. Homes built from the late 1990s through the 2000s are now reaching the age where original water heaters, fixtures, and shutoff valves fail. Newer does not mean immune, it means the failures arrive on a different schedule.
Yes. James Armstrong holds Texas Master Plumber License M-39428. The company is licensed and insured and has been BBB A+ accredited since 2018.
